The National Resource Consortium (NRC) enjoyed a tremendous night of success at the 2018 MRW National Recycling Awards as NRC took home the award for Recycling Excellence – Retail/Public Services and NRC member, Ellgia Recycling, was named Best Independent Operator of the Year. Awards for 20 hotly contested categories were announced at a glittering ceremony at the London Hilton on 28 June attended by professionals from across the waste and recycling sector.
NRC’s Recycling Excellence accolade was awarded for the consortium’s outstanding work with The Original Factory Shop (Tofs). Through a collaborative process, NRC’s experts implemented new zero to landfill systems across Tofs’ 219 stores, two distribution hubs and the company’s head office which quickly cut waste and recycling costs by 40%. The extensive savings were achieved thanks to NRC establishing a thorough understanding of the client’s needs, enabling the team to introduce efficiencies across cardboard, metal, poly, site equipment, and sorting processes.
Commenting on the National Recycling Awards, NRC Director, Paul Jackson, said: “We’re thrilled to be recognised for our work with Tofs which is just one of many cases where our thorough consultative process and honest approach to client communication has enabled us to deliver great improvements and savings.
